# Use the assistant for gear and game questions

Use text or voice to compare gear, run searches, manage saved setups and research game questions.

## Ask about the workspace you are viewing

Choose Ask AI in the top bar. Sign in and select a character; the panel checks whether the assistant is configured and enabled for your account. If the availability check fails, use Check again.

Ask about the current target, selected loadout, comparisons, visible search results, picker or guide. For example: “What about a dragon scimitar?” or “Explain why the first result is better.” The assistant uses a captured view of your settings and verifies damage with the calculator.

Type a message and press Enter to send; Shift+Enter adds a line. Use the Stop button to cancel a running request, Retry this request after an error, or New chat to clear the conversation and end any active voice call.

> Messages are limited to 4,000 characters. The assistant can open Boss trainers, but it cannot observe positions, operate practice controls or read coaching history.

## Choose Live edits or Read only

Live edits on is enabled when the panel opens. Use its toggle to switch to Read only when you want calculations and explanations without changes to the workspace or page.

Supported edits include equipment, levels, prayers, spells, boosts, target settings, comparison tabs, budgets, ownership, exclusions, encounter settings and supply allowances. A contextual weapon question can add a calculated comparison while preserving the baseline. An identical comparison can be reused; the assistant does not delete a loadout to make room when all six tabs are occupied.

Read the application result below the answer. If the setup, page, selection or settings changed while the request ran, an outdated edit is declined. Ask again against the current view. Undo reverses an applied calculator/settings change only while the workspace still matches that change.

> Undo is not a general undo for downloads, imports, archived library entries or other page actions. Page actions report In progress, Done or Failed separately; a requested action is not proof it completed.

## Run searches and work with saved setups

Ask for a full Best setups search for one target or the current raid path. The assistant can set the supported search controls, load an encounter preset, edit the path, start the normal app search and stop it. Progress and actual results appear on the page after the request is applied; ask about them once ready.

The immediate assistant optimization tool is a bounded single-target search. Full page searches use the normal app optimizer and its budget, ownership, exclusions, boosts and group supply settings. They automatically consider regular melee, ranged and magic attacks; explicit style, required-item or slot-lock restrictions belong to the bounded tool.

Ask the assistant to find a saved loadout by name in the selected character’s library, read its gear, or load it as a comparison. It can also request saving the current setup or archiving an entry when you ask. Requested bank import, workspace import/export and price refresh use the normal app controls; you still choose any import file in the browser.

> Wait for the page to confirm a search, save or import. The assistant can read saved setups from the current character, including entries beyond the visible library list; it does not access another character’s library.

## Choose processing speed and handle limits

Fast is on when the panel opens and requests faster provider processing. Switch it off for standard processing. Each answer reports the returned service tier, or that Fast was requested when no tier was returned; Fast does not change the calculator model.

Text requests and voice connection attempts share an account allowance of 20 per hour and 100 per day. Failed attempts count. A request can use up to eight combined calculator and research tools, so a complex task may need a follow-up. If a limit message appears, wait and retry when available.

## Talk to the assistant

Choose the microphone button, labelled Start voice conversation, and allow microphone access. Voice needs a supported browser on HTTPS. Wait for the call to connect; the panel shows Listening, Working or Speaking and a Voice transcript.

Use Mute microphone to pause input, Unmute microphone to resume, and End voice to finish. Voice uses the same tools, Fast setting, Live edits or Read only choice, and guarded Undo as text. You can keep speaking while moving between app pages.

Spoken work waits for an active text request to finish and then uses the committed setup. Later corrections can cancel outdated spoken work. Review confirmed outcomes and any clickable sources in the panel. Calls end after ten minutes; start another call when needed.

> Starting voice shares microphone audio with OpenAI. Text and voice conversation state stays in tab memory and clears on New chat, panel close, or account/character change; it is not a saved chat history.

## Check sources and request context

Research can read cached Wiki guides, OSRS Wiki articles, official RuneScape/Grand Exchange information and published RuneLite Plugin Hub entries. Ask about a guide with its Ask AI button to include the selected guide. Follow citations and inspect View context for tool results, the captured setup and Snapshot and usage.

Official GE daily guide prices and history are distinct from the optimizer’s shared purchase-price snapshot; research does not silently replace your price overrides. RuneLite results describe published listings and source references, not plugins installed or enabled in your client. The assistant does not install plugins.

Messages, calculator/settings context and relevant page details go to OpenAI. A requested saved-loadout read can add its gear and settings to that context. Account credentials and raw bank-import contents are excluded. Check source and retrieval dates and any truncated-coverage notices before using a researched claim.
