# Set a boss’s health, phase and defence

Choose the right monster version for your OSRS gear check. Set current HP, raid scaling and defence reductions.

## Choose a monster and phase

Open Boss & raid → Target settings → Change monster. Search for a monster and choose the right version. For a path, select the encounter row first. Changing its monster replaces that row’s target.

Encounter phase appears when the target has supported states. These can include armour or protection changes. Monster details shows attack speed, size, NPC ID and traits. Read calculation notes or use Monster on OSRS Wiki for more context.

## Set current HP and maximum HP

Max HP shows health after the supported raid scaling. Current HP is the health snapshot used by effects that depend on HP. Restore full health sets it back to the scaled maximum.

Customize monster stats changes base Hitpoints, combat stats and defence bonuses. The summary shows the final values. Raid settings holds party size and supported ToA or CoX values. A path’s ToA raid level applies to every ToA fight. Set path levels beside each fight’s boost. Nylocas colours share target stats and party size.

Allocated damage is the separate damage budget for a raid phase. Change that work in the raid builder’s healing, mechanic-damage and phase controls. Current HP does not add extra damage for expected healing.

> The model applies only supported scaling. TFA has no automatic party-size HP formula. Its builder accepts full health pools you observed. Read the error shown if a health or scaling value cannot be used.

## Set the defence reductions you expect

Defence reductions has Dragon warhammer hits, Elder maul hits, Bandos godsword damage, Arclight hits and Emberlight hits. It also has Eye of Ayak damage, Vulnerability and Accursed sceptre special. Enter hit counts in hit fields and total damage in damage fields.

Eye of Ayak damage uses total special-attack damage. It lowers a positive Magic defence bonus, stopping at zero. Check the resulting defence values. Use the same reduction choices when comparing gear.

> These settings assume the reductions already happened. They do not model landing those special attacks, their energy cost or the time spent using them.

## Check saved target and raid settings

Signed-in target and raid settings save across your characters. Boss & raid shows the save status. Guest target settings last for the current session.

If the app shows Raid & target settings need attention, read the message. Use Retry target settings to try loading or saving again. Check the target and raid values before you rely on a result.
