Export and import a comparison workspace

Move your current comparison as a JSON file and understand what the file includes.

Reviewed 2026-10-25

Export the current comparison

Choose Export workspace at the top of Saved loadouts or About & data. Export JSON in the app footer performs the same export, so it is also available while working as a guest.

The download is named osrs-optimizer-workspace.json. It contains the current comparison loadouts, their entered gear and combat settings, the current single target and the active loadout selection.

Keep this file before signing in from a guest session, importing a different comparison or reloading a saved character when you need to retain the current comparison.

Import a workspace JSON file

Select the character that should receive the comparison before importing. Use Import workspace from Saved loadouts, About & data or the app footer, then choose a compatible .json workspace file.

A successful import immediately replaces the current comparison and target, opens DPS calculator and selects single-target mode. It does not merge comparison tabs. Signed-in imports then follow normal character autosave.

The importer validates the workspace against supported items, targets and settings. Invalid files leave the current comparison unchanged and show an error. Files larger than 512 KB are rejected with an error.

  1. Export the existing comparison first if you want to keep it.
  2. Sign in and select the intended character, or stay a guest for a temporary comparison.
  3. Choose Import workspace and select the JSON file.
  4. Review the imported loadouts, levels and target before calculating or saving a library entry.

Choose the right kind of import

Import workspace restores an exported comparison JSON file. Import bank under Saved loadouts → Character reads a RuneLite Bank Memory table and changes equipment ownership instead.

A workspace import can include different saved level assumptions in its loadouts. If Character reports mixed levels, editing its Levels applies the displayed values to every comparison loadout.
